Tweeting in emacs with https://github.com/hayamiz/twittering-mode is a revelation. The UI is far less busy, and new tweets don't distract when you're writing.

Medium's approach of allowing comments, but hiding them by default, seems like a good behaviour. You can still have a conversation in the context of the post, but they don't distract from the primary content.
I'm coming to the conclusion that it's better for my browser to not reopen the tabs from last time. Too easy for old HN content to distract.
