Choosing the right amount of content to put on each docs page is surprisingly hard.
I've seen info/man pages as a single large HTML page and it eventually slows down the browser. A short page with a short scrollbar is less intimidating and you're more likely to read to the end.
I wish I had a good solution to link rot on my blog posts.
Sometimes I think about saving all the external pages like Google's cache does. I worry about authors who don't want their content copied though.

I have sympathy for the Amazon model where pages are organised around specific products (i.e. aggregate by SKU). It saves every seller having to carefully write a generic product description.
