Emacs tip of the day: you can press F3 when defining a macro. This inserts an auto incrementing counter -- great for building numeric lists!

It's amazingly awkward to print a syntactic diff correctly. Even the lines before and after the changes may not line up, if whitespace has changed!
Difftastic now inserts blank lines to help things line up. I'm reasonably happy with the result here.
Emacs command of the day: quick-calc. Great for quick arithmetic from Emacs. With a prefix, inserts the result in the buffer too.
Emacs tip of the day: M-: evaluates elisp snippets, but C-u M-: inserts the result into the current buffer. Really handy for quick scripts.
