The use of fluid design on too many sites simply leads to ridiculously long line lengths. Grr. UIs should scale up as well as down.

This is pretty elegant. You'll get the correct line regardless of encoding bugs, and the editor already knows the line number so it's cheap to compute.
You can often estimate the age of a website based on how well it displays on mobile.
All my sites end up with media queries in the CSS for narrow screens. It's so hard to design a single UI that scales from phone to desktop otherwise.
