That said, GitHub just added support in August 2025, so I suspect I'd still find use cases that don't work yet:
GIMP is huge tool that I certainly haven't mastered, but it's so useful to have around.
I used it this week to convert images from obscure formats to common ones. It's a great swiss army knife and runs everywhere.
One cute feature of markdown I'd not noticed before: there's no syntax for images *without* a description (i.e. alt text).
