I asked Hermes Agent to change how it set thread titles, and it patched its own source code! Self modifying code is hard to reason about even in a deterministic environment. I'd already limited Hermes access to the todoist API and web search out of an abundance of caution.

I'm increasingly treating terminal sessions as short lived: starting a fresh terminal tab keeps scrollback short and easy to search. I'd love to have a terminal emulator that allows me to skip over output of specific verbose commands when searching.

I've been working on a search tool for a website with 9K items and a dumb implementation works just fine. I'd normally gravitate to a library or tool like elasticsearch (ES). Adding custom filters etc is trivial on handrolled code. I wonder what scale requires actual search infra like ES.
