I recently bought a bangle.js and I'm really impressed. On the first day I had a JS REPL running with their hello world! The firmware is FOSS but you write JS apps on top. It's really hard to break. There's already an 'app store' too.

GitHub had their own JS hosting platform, but I hadn't heard about it in quite a while. Turns out they bought npm last year! https://github.blog/2020-03-16-npm-is-joining-github/

I've read about dematerialisation, but it's interesting to see in a computer context. I've bought an NVMe disk and USB-powered speakers this week. Both had fewer components than the parts they replaced.

Today I learnt you can estimate the age of a machine by looking at SMART data! $ smartctl -a /dev/sda 9 Power_On_Hours Old_age 9335 (92 144 0) 12 Power_Cycle_Count Old_age 3900 I bought my ThinkPad second hand and it's had an amazing number of boots.
