I do most of my computing on a desktop I built for gaming in 2011, with minimal upgrades since.
Looking at components now, it's striking how comparable parts get better performance but still put out less heat!

When writing long-lived programs (daemons etc) in Rust, I find myself asking *where* I should put data.
In a GC'd language it's just "I have a string" but Rust forces me to find somewhere to put it.

I'm never sure how to convert words with hyphens into SCREAMING_SNAKE_CASE. For example, should built-in function be BUILT_IN_FUNCTION or BUILTIN_FUNCTION?
It's so strange that we talk about languages being slow, and have done for years. Computer performance has increased so much in this time.

Maybe *relative* performance of languages matters more?
