Installed Linux on a new laptop yesterday, and needed to find a USB stick in a dusty drawer. The stick previously had Arch Linux Installer 2021 on it! I can't think of any other uses for the device these days.

I've had a new Linux laptop for several weeks and only just realised that I didn't have `man` installed! Google is my default the vast majority of the time, and this seems to confirm it.

TIL there are multiple developer tools called asdf! (1) https://github.com/fare/asdf (Common Lisp build tool) (2) https://asdf-vm.com/ (manages installed PL runtimes, like a generic nvm or rbenv) I'm surprised multiple folks like the name, I'd worry that it's easy to forget.

What's your favourite file checksum when you don't need cryptographic strength? md5sum is convenient (it's installed on most systems), but it was originally intended to be secure. I just want a fast content check. (Or is sha256sum sufficiently optimised that it doesn't matter?)
